As you probably are aware, OSHA has created a new Hazard Communication Standard to align the current HazCom rules with the Global rules under the Global Harmonization System (GHS). This updated regulatory requirement was made official in March 2012.

The updated regulation requires two major changes by manufacturers of chemicals in the US: 1) updated labeling and 2) a new MSDS format. The new rules require that employers train their employees in understanding the new labels and MSDS (now called SDS) by December 1, 2013.

We at ECS know that you are extremely busy making products that help your company stay solvent and profitable. We thought this would be a great opportunity to take one worry off your mind and provide you with a training program that will comply with the employee training requirements for this regulation.

So from now until December 1st, 2013 we’re giving away our exclusive GHS Training DVD along with GHS Pictogram Update flyers to anyone who donates any amount to our fund to support the Habitat for Humanity.

On December 10th, just in time for the holiday season, we’ll send Habitat for Humanity the collection from everyone who has donated. It’s our way of trying to give back this year. Both to you and to those without good homes to go to.

This DVD is just over 30 minutes long and goes through the requirements of the new GHS HazCom standard for your employees. We encourage you to use a sign-in sheet to demonstrate attendance watching the video. No test is required.

Watching this short DVD (which will play on a computer DVD player or a TV/DVD player) will satisfy the OSHA training requirements which are due by December 1, 2013. Training may be conducted on an individual or group basis. Please note that all employees (including office staff and management) are required to attend training on this subject and any new hires will also require training on this material as well.

Thank you again for your business and entrusting ECS to assist you with your Environmental, Health and Safety Regulatory and Training needs. We look forward to continuing our relationship for years to come. Please contact me if you should have questions about this or any other regulatory topics.

PS: Please allow 7-14 business days for this kit to arrive.
